PublishingMedia - Modular Content and Web site Management System for Publishers

MEDIASTOR/FILESTORE

 At a glance:

Any Web site needs to feature Pictures or link with downloadable media such as PDF or Word documents.  PublishingMedia provides two storage facilities to house these assets for such purposes.

The MediaStore is the part of PublishingMedia which contains all the various Media which will be used within the site content.  Examples are Images, Banners, Buttons, Navigation graphics, Mapped Images, Flash files, PDFs etc., in fact any electronic document that might be displayed within a User's browser.

Media can be fully categorised and uploaded to the system against a set of definable 'Media Templates' (to maintain consistency for site design).  Descriptive text and notes on Ownership can be entered to aid searching of the store.  There is no 'internal' image editing or manipulation functionality in PublishingMedia.

Once uploaded, the media can be placed in or linked to Article content, or directly placed into Page, Stylesheet, Database records or Advertising modules, as required, for use in the site.

The Filestore is an Intranet type of tool, allowing the User to upload any type of file into an Windows Explorer type of environment (folder and file tree), for viewing/download by other Users with the relevant permissions to this part of the system.

This module is useful for sharing files between colleagues for things such as meeting minutes, briefing papers, promotional and sales materials etc.   None of this content can be used in the Public Web site created using PublishingMedia.
